Viloria Takes Care of Another Keb Bass

Flyweight Brian Viloria of Waipahu, left, stretches during a U.S. Olympic boxing team workout at the New York Athletic Club.TUCSON, AZ - Brian "The Hawiian Punch" Viloria successfully defended his NABF flyweight title here Friday night with an 11th-round knockout of Gilberto Keb Bass.

Viloria, from Waipahu, Hawaii, used a powerful left hook to the body that sent Keb Bass to the canvas.

The fight was waved off by referee Rocky Burke at 2:42 of the 11th round.

"He was one of the toughest guys I fought," Villoria said after his fourth defense of the title. "He kept coming towards me."

The win in the scheduled 12-round fight improved Viloria's record to 15-0 (9 KOs).

Keb Bass, from Hunucma, Mexico, fell to 22-11-1 (14 KOs).

The 23-year-old Viloria, a two-time junior Olympic gold medalist who in 2000 became Hawaii's first Olympic boxer, beat Keb Bass' brother Juan Alfonso on Feb. 13 in Connecticut.

The co-feature saw Cuauhtemoc Vargas stop Erik Rodriguez in the seventh round of a junior welterweight matchup.
